Cesar Chavez Middle School Needs YOU!!!

School Site Council

César Chávez Middle School is looking for parents who want to be a part of the decision making process for our school. The School Site Council (SSC) is a vital committee made up of elected parents, community and staff members. This committee provides parents an opportunity to be involved in the academic programs of the school. The SSC develops, monitors and evaluates the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). Members assist site decisions to implement programs and services that support students and the allocation of Title I funds. To be included in the nominations please return the informational flier or fill out the following information by August 24th, 2017 . We hope you decide to become part of this important committee. Concilio Escolar (School Site Council)

La escuela secundaria César Chávez busca a padres de familia que desean tomar parte en el proceso de toma de decisiones en la escuela. El concilio escolar es un comité vital integrado por padres, alumnos, y personal elegidos. Este comité le provee a los padres la oportunidad de estar involucrados en el programa académico de la escuela. El concilio escolar desarrolla, monitorea y evalúa el plan único del rendimiento académico del alumno. Los miembros contribuyen a la toma de decisiones al implementar programas y servicios que apoyan a los alumnos al igual que el designio de los fondos de Título Uno. Digital Citizenship

Digital media and technology are evolving at a rapid pace, both opening up extraordinary opportunities and posing real risks for young people.  Students are using the power of the internet to explore, learn, connect, and create in ways never before imagined- both in and out of the classroom.  However, issues that emerge from this constant “connected culture” are important to address. On Monday, Jan. 30, the Oceanside Unified School District is upgrading to a new Notification System called SchoolMessenger. The new notification system will replace ParentLink. The new system allows schools to contact parents and families in a more efficient and timely manner. The new system also allows parents and families the option of managing how they receive calls and information from their child’s school.

The OUSD Student Wellness Policy focuses on nutrition and physical education.  Click OUSD Wellness to learn more about this policy, healthy eating and exercise.

Foods and beverages sold to students through the district’s child nutrition program, student stores, vending machines and fundraisers meet or exceed state and federal nutrition standards. Nutrition education is provided as a part of the district’s health education program.

Would you like to see your student's name up on our marquee? You can now request to have a birthday message put up on our marquee for everyone to see!! The Request Form is below in our NEWS section for you to download and print. You can drop off your Request Form and the $10 in cash or check, written out to Chavez PTSA at the Administrative Office. If you have any questions, you can contact us at 760-966-4900.

no bullying.jpgThe local educational agency (LEA) adopted a policy that prohibits discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying based on actual or perceived ancestry, age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.

Lighthouse Foods.jpgParents can register their children online for the 2014-15 OUSD school lunch and breakfast programs.  The national program provides meals at a reduced cost; eligible students with an approved free or reduced status may receive meals at no cost.  Click Online Meal Registration to get started.

School is dismissed at 1:15pm on Mondays and at 2:15pm on Tuesday through Friday. Students may not be checked out of school after 1:00pm on Mondays, and after 2:00pm Tuesday - Friday.

Coffee With Principal

Once a month, on the second Wednesday, from 9:00 - 10:00 am, the principal, Mrs. Morgan, will host 5 interested parents to have coffee with! During the visit, parents will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the amazing work that happens here at Chavez Middle School. This is a great time to visit classrooms, explore our facilities, and most importantly, see what your child experiences every day.
